The Shallows: How the Internet is Changing the Way We Think, Re .9781848872271

Title:. The Shallows: How the Internet Is Changing the Way We Think, Read and Remember Condition: BRAND NEW. Format: Paperback. ISBN: Overview:. In The Shallows, Nicholas Carr examines a simple yet transformative question: how is the internet changing the way we think, read, and remember? Written for curious readers who notice their attention drifting as they scroll, this incisive exploration blends neuroscience, psychology, and cultural analysis to illuminate a quiet revolution in our cognitive habits. Carr traces a centuries-long arc from early literacy to the multimedia, hyperlink-driven mind of today, arguing that digital networks reward rapid skimming and surface-level processing while eroding the sustained, contemplative reading that deepens understanding and memory. The book is not a technophobic diatribe; it asks us to consider practical consequences and to cultivate mindful digital habits. Expect lucid explanations, thought-provoking case studies, and a persuasive invitation...
